That means you're hydrated. That's a good thing...

I've been hyper-diligent about hydration throughout my footy career. Particularly on game day. I'd be drinking and peeing so often, confident that I was nailing my physical prep. That photo πŸ‘† is deadset me before I run out.

Seemingly unrelated, on game day I also felt:

  • πŸͺ« Lower energy vs training days
  • 🦡 Calf cramps (sometimes even in the first half)

And then I recently learned:

My crystal clear urine was actually flushing out critical electrolytes and minerals.

Shit.

Ok, but why does that matter?

Electrolytes and minerals, among other things, help the body produce energy, contract your muscles and keep your heart beating.

So: ⬇️ low electrolytes & minerals = ⬇️ poorer performance

Takeaways:

  1. Don't drink endless water without adding electrolytes
  2. Use electrolyte tablets on high-load/game days (try LMNT – get a free sample box here – or Hydralyte tablets)
  3. Learn the mineral-rich foods (fruit, greens, nuts) 🍌 πŸ₯‘ πŸ₯₯ 🌱 πŸ“ πŸ₯¦
